Rare Snow Blankets South

February 12, 2010 at 12:25 (News, Society)

Woo-hoo! Let it snow, baby!

A rare heavy snowstorm is continuing to blanket areas from the I-20 to I-10 corridor in the South after burying Dallas with a foot of snow Thursday. Millions in the South are being impacted by this storm.

Enough snow will fall in some areas to weigh down trees and cut power lines, as well as make for dangerous conditions on area streets, secondary roads and highways.

Conditions may worsen during the late afternoon and nighttime hours as road surface temperatures cool slightly, turning wet and slushy areas to ice. Many slide-offs and accidents have already occurred from the snow.

The storm has already closed schools and resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations and delays.
